SENIOR LAUNCH
Hey Pals! Senior year is flying by. Milestone after milestone keeps getting checked off the list, but I thought I would take the time to highlight one of the biggest ones.
The senior launch is a fundraising performance to raise money for showcase in the spring. More than that, it’s the last chance we will all get to perform together on Cowan stage, a stage we’ve all but literally grown up on. We bring back all kinds of material that we performed over the years, both fan favorites and personal favorites.
I was lucky enough to bring back What do I Need With Love from Thoroughly Modern Millie, Our time from Merrily we Roll Along (with Cameron Chang and Abby Kress,) and Two Lost Souls from Damn Yankees (with Tatum Beck,) as well as several group numbers from everything we’ve done over the years.
Aside from the obvious emotional impact of a last performance with the people I love; Launch was also a massively validating experience. Sometimes, when we’re working so hard in and out of class, it’s hard to stop and take stock of all the growth we’ve achieved. A performance like Launch, forces you to re-watch, and re-perform things, comparing and contrasting, and in the end, seeing just how much growth has occurred.
Many thanks to all of our professors for all they have taught us over the years, as well as to Thom, Lori Kay, and Stella specifically for their beautiful direction of the launch.
I’ve been launched, now it’s time to land smack dab in NYC. (I know it’s cheesy, and I’m not sorry)
