Things I'm Passionate About

Yoga and other Fitness- There’s a whole other blog entry on this one alone.

Food- I love food. I love to eat food, I love to cook food, I love to read about food, I love to watch food shows, I love to learn about food, I love to smell food. Having an apartment with a kitchen at school has been a godsend. Spending time in the kitchen experimenting is a source of grounding, and strangely enough, has been a bonding experience between my friends and I, as I share a lot of what I make with them. My favorite food author would have to be Michael Pollan, and my favorite chef personality would have to be Dave Chang.

John Mulaney- I really should watch some other stand-up, but every time I try I just end up watching another John Mulaney special. I have them all memorized back to front, and I’m often told that my speech pattern eerily emulates his. Now, whether I watched him and decided I was gonna speak like him, or watched him and loved him because I already sounded like him, I don’t know.

Music-pretty much all kinds of music, though I tend to gravitate towards sad indie/folk music. Not because I’m a sad person, just kinda what I’m drawn to for some reason. I play guitar and sing, pretty much whenever I have free time.

Reading books- this is a new one for me. I was never a reader growing up, then sophomore year of college a switch flipped, I decided I was going to be a reader, and I haven’t gone back since. My favorite book is A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. I love to read nonfiction books about food, sappy romance novels, as well as anything that can give me a good cry.

Sitcoms- I love sitcoms. I love sitting down and following the same characters for as long as eleven seasons sometimes. I think they’re a perfect way to study human behavior. They may be formulaic, but I would argue that on a certain level, we all are as well. I think the best is MASH, hands down.

Wombats- an adorable, tunnel digging marsupial from southern Australia. A strange mix between a bear and a pig, they poop in cubes, have an incredibly strong behind, and cannot sweat. Through it all they persevere, and remain one of the worlds cutest little animals.
